Please help me find these visitors on Boracay Island in the Philippines. After Typhoon Haiyan, their families and friends haven't heard from them and are worried.

Update Nov 18 at 9:00 pm -

Three important bulletins:

1)  If you have a vacation planned to Boracay and want to know about the condition of the island, read this.  (But it's all good news)

2) BE CAREFUL of scams - you may get people "trolling" social media, who see you are missing loved ones and then email you that they have found them, but they need special medical assistance and to be airlifted out.  They'll request money to make that happen, but scam you.  If you receive such and email and are dubious, ask for distinguishing marks, specific details, questions only they would know, and even a photo with them.  Get that person's contact information and contact the local authorities.

3) The island is still without internet, and it may be a while, so the best thing to do is buy a Filipino SMART or GLOBE SIM card and have them put it in your smart phone.  That way you can access internet on your phone, or even set up a hotspot for your laptop or iPad.

GREAT news - the electricity came on for most of Boracay late Monday night!  There are still some areas down, but most of the island has power.  Still no internet or phone lines, but I expect them to be online soon,  so all of your loved ones will be able to email, call, and communicate with you soon!

Until then rest assured, there were no reported deaths or even injuries from the typhoon on Boracay Island, so just be patient and keep the faith.  I'm here to help no matter what you need!

***
Since my video footage of super typhoon Yolanda and the aftermath here on Boracay Island in the Philippines went out, I’ve been receiving Tweets and Facebook messages from people all over the world.  A lot of people have family or friends here on the island but haven’t heard from them, and are concerned.  We were very lucky to miss the brunt of the typhoon and damage was minimal on Boracay, with no deaths or even injuries reported, but still,  internet and phone lines are down, so communication is sporadic, at best.

*If you haven't heard from your friends or family, please assume all is well and they are enjoying their time on the island, just unable to communicate because of the power outages.  I understand people get scared and concerned, but there were NO reported injuries or deaths.*

Here is a list of names of people who were supposedly on Boracay Island during the typhoon, but their family hasn’t heard from them.  Please share this list and help me track these people down and let them know to contact their families to let them know they’re ok.

*I am getting hundreds of tweets, messages, and requests every day, so please don't just give me a name.  There are 15,000 people on the island and I won't just bump into them.  Please include:
Full name
Recent photo
Travel dates on Boracay
Physical description
Hotel
Last contact
Any other helpful information

I am on Boracay so anyone can contact me at hi@NormSchriever, @NormSchriever on Twitter, or Norm Schriever on Facebook.  If they need help, food, water, a place to stay, or want to use my local cell phone for internet I am happy to be of service.   There are so many people horribly affected on islands around us, so let’s all come together as a world community and do what we can for them.

PLEASE ALSO SHARE THIS POST VIA SOCIAL MEDIA, AND POST THE LINK TO AS MANY SITES, BLOGS, FACEBOOK AND TWITTER ACCTS, ETC. THAT HAVE TO DO WITH BORACAY, THE PHILIPPINES AS POSSIBLE.

Salamat Po (Thanks so much.)

Norm :-)

Updates as of 11/14, 3:00 pm local time:

Internet is out as well, which makes communications so sporadic.

There are no medical or safety emergencies to speak of.

There are no reported injuries or fatalities and damage was minimal on Boracay.

Caticlan airport is now up and running, as well as Kalibo.

*There is no need to cancel your vacation to the island, if you have one planned.  Read this.

Hi Norm .. I have seen your personal FB page and saw that people are asking you to find their loved ones .. I am not on twitter so can't ask you on that. My younger sister Bee Williamson Lil-Miss Bee (originally from New Zealand), recently from Darwin is in Boracay and we (obviously) can't get hold of her .. just need to know she is ok!! She was working at Sandcastles resort until about a week or so ago - she is now working at a new food and drink kiosk on the beach (near sandcastles) with the floor above going to be a sports bar and the top being a dance club .. you may know the place?? Any news would be fantastic! Thank you so much in advance!

Jeff is a SCAM. Do not send him money.

There are NO reported casualties on Boracay.
Cannot believe people would take advantage of such a situation.
Power, phone lines and internet are weak

Lin WIlliamson and Deborah - thank you so much for pointing out that some evil people will take this tragedy as a way to scam uninformed, panicked families out of money, like someone (sure a fake name) like Jeff Thompson tried to do here. Of course I can not control who comments on my blog, but what I can do is write a new blog and alert people to this kind of internet scam. The poor, distraught families of the Philippines and visitors have enough to worry about without being scammed out of money, so please help me spread the word to be cautious, once my blog is written. Thanks again, and so glad your loved ones are ok.

Hello Norm!
I love what you are doing for us who are unable to contact our families on Boracay, and would love to know if you have ventured in the direction of Monaco Suites De Boracay? My father Bryan Buffington (Previous resident of Southern California) lives there part time, as well as his dwelling at the 77 Store Sito Tulubhan, Right on the sand of Tulubhan Beach. If you have any knowledge of him please send me an e-mail back. You are our gateway to the ones we love. All your help is very much appreciated!

Hi Norm, you are an angel for mediating contact between those in the island and the people outside worried about their well-being.

If you happen to stroll by Station 2... could you please kindly check up on a man by the name of Flo... he is the owner of a beachfront resort called Eclipse (a couple doors next to Regency Hotel)... please let him know his daughter has been trying to get a hold of him for 2 days now and just wants to know he is ok.

Thank you so much!!

Hi Norm,

I humbly ask for some assistance on providing me a bit of information how my husband is doing in Boracay. His name is Gregg R. Tadeo Jr. He is currently working as a Duty Manager in Crown Regency, and it's been 2 days I haven't heard any word from him or anyone directly connected with Crown Regency. He is on night shift (8 in the evening till early afternoon next day). I hope to hear something that's directly from someone in Boracay and get to talk to my husband. I am worried sick for not knowing how my husband's situation after the typhoon.

Thank You!

Also, can you please consider being her point of contact there in Boracay please? Please email me when you get the chance. Many thanks! from Singapore.

Hello fantastic Norm!

We have been searching all day and all night to reach some information about our familiymembers backpacking in Boracay Island.
They were living close to White Sand Beach and after the thyfoon we haven't heard anything from them.
I'm begging you with all of my love, with all my life, to please just post anything you can hear associating to:

- A BLOND SWEDISH GIRL. Very blond!!!
- Frida Valtonsson. 20 years old. 1.75 tall.
- Backpacking with her boyfriend ADRIAN CEIMERTZ
- Often wear a WHITE BACKPACK
- Blue eyes, look very Scandivaian
- Was living on a hotel by White Sand Beach
- Last Friday they should seek for a safe place to stay before the typhoon
- Hopefully remain around White sand beach
- Should during their stay in Bocaray relax at the beach as often as possible, maybe they be there
- Always stick together, a blond girl and a medium-blond boy, 20 years

NOTICE:
If you just see a BLOND GIRL, take it for granted that it's her and ask if she's from Sweden!

Thank you from all my heart, our whole family follows you constantly, so any information is helpful.

Thanks from Sweden,
Fanny

My son arrived last Sunday on Boracay. He is 26. French. His name is Aurélien FOURNIER. He is kite instructor in Habagat kiteboarding school. If you see him, tell him all the family is anxious, We are watching TV and are so sad to see what the typhoon did and all these dead or injured people. Much love to him and to everyone. A mummy very anxious.

Hi Norm

my brother Glen is Australian and has been in Boracay and surrounding towns/villages since February 2013 he regulary stays with local people out of the main tourist areas. He has been working playing guitar in the local bars/resorts. He recently started a business doing kayak tours to local islands snorkelling, he received his kayaks the week before the typhoon. Im guessing he would be known amongst the locals in Boracay PLEASE any information would be great elderly parents are frantic.... thankyou, Kellie

Hi Norm thanks for everything you are doing in Boracay. It has been a great source of re-assurance for myself and the rest of the family and friends here in the UK but we still haven't heard from my brother Jeremy Devereux Hickman since the Thursday before the Typhoon hit. We have been trying to phone and email but all to no avail of course. Is it possible he may be unaware that we have been so concerned? It would be great if there is some way of getting a message to him asking him to let us know that he is OK. I'm afraid I don't have any details of his whereabouts. His last email said that they were stocking up with food and bracing themselves for the storm. He is 45 years old, about 5ft 9' with a swarthy complexion and dark thick short hair. I will email you a photo shortly. Many thanks for anything you can do, Adrian

I left from Boracay last sunday. No general electricity but many places have generators, then it is OK. You just need to choose an hotel with generators

Hi Norm,

What you are doing here is fantastic, and i realise you must have a lot to respond to but im so hoping you can help me.
Im currently in southeast asia, having visited the Philippines about 6weeks ago. I am desperate to volunteer and come help in anyway possible. But am struggling to find how to do this.
There are plenty of websites saying 'help, donate, volunteer' etc. but none say actually how you can volunteer.

Do you have any information on organisations that are taking volunteers or any contacts that i could email? Any advice you could give me would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Hana

Hi Hana,
I think in the affected areas, like Samara, Leyte, and Tacloban, the situation is so bad that volunteers can not go in - its only Marines, Phil military, and professional aid workers. But I would contact the Red Cross, Direct Relief, and others. Or you can organize a fundraising drive back home, because what people really need is money in the damaged areas. Sorry I don't have more info, but I suggest going through the channels of big relief organizations

Hi Norm,

I was hoping that you might be able to shed a little light on what's happening on the northern half of the island? My girlfriend is staying up in a resort with her uncle. It has been ten days and I still haven't heard anything from her and I'm honestly terrified! I keep seeing that people are hearing from their loved ones and it's starting to make me fear the worst... I'd you have any knowledge of the north half of the island, well pat station 2, please let me know. Thank you, you are a truly great person for all you are doing for people!
